Welcome to the WorkFirst Alberta Summit!
The WorkFirst Alberta Summit is a two-day event taking place on September 16 and 17 in Red Deer, Alberta, bringing together the Government of Alberta, led by the Ministry of Assisted Living and Social Services, alongside employers, employment service providers, industry leaders, and community organizations.
The summit will showcase innovative programs and partnerships supporting workforce development across the province, with keynote speakers, engaging panel discussions, and networking opportunities focused on employing persons with disabilities, supporting youth employment, advancing mental health in the workplace, and driving innovation, inclusion, and economic development.
The event will also feature a province-wide Employment Services Showcase on Day Two, connecting attendees with organizations driving real impact in Alberta’s labour market.
What to expect:
– Remarks from the Honourable Jason Nixon, Minister of Assisted Living and Social Services on upcoming investments in employment services
– Hear from Thrive on how technology is changing employment services
– Sessions focused on innovative frameworks for persons with disabilities and success in employment
– National and international speakers on work-based learning, mental health, and employer co-investment
– Panels and breakout sessions on inclusive hiring, youth employment, rural access, and economic development
– Testimonials from both clients and employers who have experienced success from ALSS employment services programs
– Employment Services Showcase with providers from across Alberta
– Tours of a simulated worksite helping prepare local job seekers for employment
– Networking, lunch, and an evening mixer

Held as part of the Summit, the Showcase provides a platform for organizations, training providers, and employers to connect directly with Albertans, demo innovative solutions, and engage with partners from across the province.
Whether you’re delivering frontline employment services, offering skills training, providing wraparound supports, or actively hiring, the Showcase is your chance to step into the spotlight. Share the work you’re doing to advance employment in Alberta, connect with job seekers and partners, and position your organization as a key player in the province’s workforce ecosystem. Participation is free, but space is limited.
Each booth includes:
– 10′ x 10′ space
– One table and two chairs
– Wi-Fi and power access
– Curtain backdrop for a clean, polished presentation
