Nerd Expo
Oct 17-18, 2026
Nerd Expo was built from years of experience, passion, and a deep belief that nerd culture belongs everywhere, including right here in Central Alberta.
Behind the scenes, I’ve spent many years involved in pop-culture and nerd-focused events across Alberta and beyond. I’ve volunteered with both the Calgary Expo and Edmonton Expo during the Emily Expo era and through the Fan Expo years, supported the Red Deer Expo, and helped with a wide range of smaller community-driven events. These experiences gave me a front-row seat to what makes events succeed and, just as importantly, what makes them welcoming.
Today, I’m also fortunate to work with Face to Face Games when they are touring within the province, supporting organized play, tournaments, and large-scale gaming events. Alongside that, I’ve spent years on the other side of the table as well, running booths as a vendor and exhibitor at conventions, expos, and markets. That balance matters. I understand what it takes to host an event, and I understand what vendors, artists, and community groups need to feel supported while attending one.
That perspective is what shaped Nerd Expo.
This event exists because nerd culture thrives when it’s embraced, not tucked away or treated as niche. Games, cosplay, comics, fandoms, and creative hobbies bring people together across ages, backgrounds, and abilities. When communities invest in passion, they create connection. When they support creativity, they create growth.
On a personal level, this mission is deeply important to me. I’m a parent to two neurodivergent children, and I want to help build spaces that are safe, supportive, encouraging, and inclusive for them and for others walking a similar path. Everyone deserves a place where they feel welcome to be themselves, excited about what they love, and confident showing up as they are.
Nerd Expo is just one version of that vision.
I’m always open to helping bring nerd culture into new spaces, whether that’s:
- Supporting or consulting on events in other towns
- Helping pubs or venues host game nights and tournaments
- Talking about how passion-driven events strengthen communities and local economies
If you’re looking to build something meaningful, community-focused, and fun, I’d love to be part of that conversation.
This is about more than a single weekend.
It’s about creating spaces where people connect, grow, and belong.
