July 19, 2025

Westerner Park is proud to announce Bethany CollegeSide as the winner of the 2025 Saddle Up & Decorate Contest, a beloved tradition that brings colour, creativity, and Western pride to the community in celebration of Westerner Days.

Located on the Red Deer Polytechnic campus, Bethany CollegeSide is a longterm care and young adult care supportive living residence operated by the Bethany Care Society. Known for its resident-focused model of care and deep community integration, the site transformed its space with cheerful Western themed décor that captured the essence of Westerner Days and lifted the spirits of residents, staff, and visitors alike.

“Winning the Saddle Up & Decorate Contest has been such a fun and uplifting experience for our team and residents,” said Larina Tremblay, Site Administrator, Bethany CollegeSide. “We had a fantastic time bringing some Western flair to our site, and it was heartwarming to see the joy it sparked throughout our community. We’re grateful to Westerner Park for creating such a fun and meaningful way to connect and celebrate community spirit!”

The Saddle Up & Decorate Contest invites businesses, organizations, and community partners across Red Deer and Central Alberta to join in the Westerner Days celebration by showcasing their Western pride through themed decorations and displays.

“When local organizations like Bethany CollegeSide take part in Westerner Days, it strengthens the heart of our community,” said Shelly Flint, CEO of Westerner Park. “It’s more than just decorating—it’s about shared experiences, uplifting one another, and creating moments of connection that last beyond the event. We’re proud to see such vibrant community participation and are honored to celebrate Bethany CollegeSide’s heartfelt contribution.”

Each year, the contest highlights the imaginative spirit and hometown pride that make Westerner Days one of Red Deer’s most cherished traditions. Bethany’s participation not only brought joy to its residents but also demonstrated how community celebrations can meaningfully connect people of all ages and backgrounds.
