Local Skater Maria Brant to Shine at Stars on Ice Holiday in Red Deer

December 5, 2024

December 5, 2024  |  Red Deer, Alberta

A magical moment awaits as Red Deer’s own Maria Brant takes the ice at the Stars on Ice Holiday show alongside figure skating champion Kaitlyn Weaver. The performance will take place on Sunday, December 22 at 4:00 PM at the Peavey Mart Centrium.

Maria, just eight years old, started skating at the age of three and trains with the Red Deer Skating Club. She was nominated for this prestigious opportunity by one of her coaches, Jennifer Shigematsu, who could not be more thrilled for her young protégé.

“Maria is an incredible talent whose passion and dedication to skating are inspiring,” Jennifer shares. “This opportunity is not just a dream come true for Maria but a proud moment for the entire Red Deer skating community. I hope everyone in our city will join us at the Peavey Mart Centrium to cheer her on and celebrate this milestone in her journey.”

Maria will join Kaitlyn Weaver in a special performance set to Believe from The Polar Express. The piece, choreographed by Kaitlyn herself, embodies the spirit of hope and possibility that defines the holiday season.

“This year in Stars on Ice Holiday, I have the privilege of skating with Maria Brant in Red Deer!” Kaitlyn says. “The show is built around the magic of Santa Claus, with our title piece being Believe from The Polar Express. Although the song speaks of the holiday season, the metaphor runs deeper. I love the ability to connect with young skaters with big dreams, and I think this piece will be a reminder (to Maria, to the audience, and to me!) that anything is possible, if you believe.”

When asked about skating with Stars on Ice, Maria shared her thoughts: “I’m so excited to skate with all the other skaters! This is a dream come true. I’ve been practicing a lot because I want to do my best.”

Maria’s performance will be one of many highlights in the star-studded Stars on Ice Holiday show, which features legendary skaters such as Elvis Stojko, Kaetlyn Osmond, Kaitlyn Weaver & Andrew Poje, and more. The evening promises to bring festive cheer and breathtaking artistry to the ice.

Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased at ticketsalberta.com. Prices start at $55.00 (service charges apply), and group discounts are available for parties of 10 or more. Don’t miss this chance to support Maria and experience the magic of Stars on Ice Holiday!
