Westerner Days Wrap-Up
Over 88,000 patrons attended this year’s Westerner Days Fair & Exposition, central Alberta’s largest summer celebration. From midway rides and free entertainment to the nightly pony chuckwagon races and agricultural and art shows and exhibits, there was something for everyone!
The event kicked off on Wednesday, July 15th with the annual parade, taking place in downtown Red Deer. Thousands of spectators lined the parade route to view the various floats, bands, vintage cars, wrapped vehicles, etc.
On the grounds, patrons of Westerner Days Fair & Exposition were welcomed to a modified site. New this year was the Sunny Family Fun Zone, home of the ENMAX Family BBQ Pit and the Dairyland Kids Corral. To make room for this new venue, the Mike’s All Slots Casino & Lounge was moved to its new location in the Salons. This created two zones: a welcoming area for families and an adult area. Adults also flocked to the Molson Canadian Chalet Beer Gardens, the perfect retreat on a hot summer day.
